Our Mission | ShieldMee Inc.
ShieldMee Inc. · 501(c)(3) Nonprofit

The mission is the workforce. The outcome is patient care.

We train the best clinicians so you receive the best care — uncompromised.

ShieldMee trains clinicians to serve the populations that other practices refer out — and pays them enough to stay.

The problem is not a shortage of therapists.

Every year, thousands of new clinicians graduate ready to help. They are trained. They are motivated. They care deeply about the work.

Then they enter a system that pays them $38,000 a year to carry 40 clients at a time. They get supervision in name only. Within five years, most of them burn out and leave. The system replaces them with the next class of graduates willing to accept the same conditions.

The people who suffer most are the ones who need the best care — clients dealing with addiction, trauma, depression that has not responded to treatment, families in crisis, and people ordered into therapy by the court. These are the clients who get passed from one overwhelmed therapist to the next, lose faith in therapy, and fall through the cracks.

Fix the workforce. Fix the care.

The quality of care a client receives depends on the condition of the clinician sitting across from them. You cannot deliver excellent therapy through a workforce that is underpaid, undertrained, and unsupported.

When you train clinicians properly, pay them what the work is worth, and give them supervision that actually prepares them for hard cases — the care improves. Not because you focused on the client. Because you focused on the clinician.

They are the same problem. They are the same solution.

How it works.

ShieldMee hires pre-licensed clinicians and pays them a real salary — roughly double what the industry offers. They receive structured supervision built on Clinical Language Profiling, a method we developed to track how clients change through the way they speak, not just what they report.

The clinical work pays for the training. The training produces stronger clinicians. Stronger clinicians produce better results. Better results bring in more clients. The model funds itself.

No grants required to operate. No donations required to survive. The mission pays for the mission.

We take the cases no one else will.

Most practices refer out the clients who are too complex, too resistant, or too high-risk. ShieldMee was built for exactly those people.

Addiction and substance use. Depression and anxiety that have not responded to traditional therapy. Court-ordered treatment. Families stuck in cycles of conflict. Professionals under monitoring — physicians, attorneys, pilots. Clients other therapists are not trained to work with.

These populations are underserved not because clinicians do not care. They are underserved because the standard training does not prepare clinicians for what these clients bring into the room. Our supervision model does.

“To abuse something is to discredit its proper use.”

Why nonprofit.

This is not a business strategy. It is a values decision.

The for-profit therapy model pushes volume over quality, quick fixes over lasting change, and platform dependency over clinical independence. It turns therapists into contractors and clients into billing units.

ShieldMee is a 501(c)(3) because the mission has to be protected from the pressure to maximize profit. Every dollar goes back into the clinical work, the training, and the people who deliver the care.

Why this exists.

A note from Eduardo Florez, LMHC — Founder & Clinical Director

I have 18 years in recovery. The mental health system that saved my life is the same system that underpays and burns out the people who work in it.

I built ShieldMee because I have been on both sides — as someone who needed help and could not always find it, and as a clinician who sees how the system fails the people trying to provide that help. The gap between what clients need and what clinicians are prepared to deliver is not a mystery. It is a training problem. It is a pay problem. It is a supervision problem.

ShieldMee exists to close that gap.

For clinicians who want to do this work.

If you are a pre-licensed clinician looking for supervision that actually develops you — not just signs your hours — we want to hear from you.
